Green Vacation Travel Checklist

So now that you know more about vacation travel and finding ways to either help or reduce the impact on the environment, what are checklist items that I should use when planning an event to make certain that you have a green vacation?

Follow these simple procedures and check them off as you go along and if you do, you will have a greener vacation and you will be a part of the solution instead of a larger part of the problem. And remember, green vacations aren't always about having no footprint, but about taking the steps to reduce that footprint as much as feasible.

1) Identify vacation destinations that are green.

2) Find vendors for all services during your vacation (lodging, transportation, dining) that follow green practices.

3) Selected transportation methods based on environmental impact.

4) Explored the possibility of sharing resource expenditures (like taking a shared ride to the airport).

5) Made your environmental concerns known to service providers.

6) Perform an assessment of the value of the vacation vs. the environmental impact.

7) Sought opportunities to volunteer to pay back for some of the environmental impact of your vacation.

Feel free to browse this website to find additional information about your green vacation travel choices. Not only ways of reducing the impact of your trip, but also alternatives for the purpose. From Ecotravel to Volunteer Vacations, there are choices that you can make that can expose you to a new world or even benefit the environment.
