1) Select your location to reduce needed travel of attendees.

2) Distribute invitations and materials electronically.

3) For entertainment, use local vendors, or national vendors with local personnel. Some companies look local, but ask about their policies. THEY improv, for example has green corporate events using local personnel in all 50 states.

4) For catering and restaurants, use providers with a reduced carbon footprint. That means to ask if they use locally grown foods and supplies as well as having environmentally friendly practices.

5) Send gifts directly to the recipients. Instead of providing gifts at an event, providing them where they live prevents 'double shipping' of the items for them to take them home.

6) Ship equipment and supplies early. If you can ship everything ahead of time, it will allow you to get everything you need at the venue at a fraction of the environmental cost.

7) Double check the attendees list. If some of the attendees can be reduced or if some of the people can attend virtually it will greatly reduce the impact.

8) Select materials and signage that will allow you to reuse them.
